We are looking for a full time cook/steward. This individual must be self-motivated and able to provide sustenance for a crew of 7-12 while maintaining the cleanliness of the galley and all associated spaces. This position also includes responsibilities as steward of the vessel, ensuring shipboard cleanliness and orderliness with the help of crew. Eligible applicants must be willing to commit a minimum of 6 months to the ship, with evaluations for extended employment being available after such time.

Lynx is an educational platform operating in the waters of the East coast between St. Petersburg, FL, and Nantucket, MA. Lynx is currently in Saint Simons Island GA. Lynx will then be heading north in the month of April to Annapolis MD for programming consisting of education programs with local kids. After which the vessel will continue its northbound to its homeport of Nantucket MA until the end of October conducting ed programs, daysails, and charters.


Cook/steward is responsible for providing fresh, well-balanced meals for a potential variety of dietary needs. They will be in charge of the operation of their department, and as such must schedule and provision according to the needs and budget of the ship. In conjunction with the mate, this individual will organize mealtimes and will ensure the timely presentation of such meals. The cleanliness of the galley and all associated spaces is the responsibility of the cook/steward and is essential to maintaining shipboard health. Other responsibilities as a steward may include ship’s laundry, procuring cleaning supplies, and catering to any liveaboard guests. Crew assistance for such tasks may be provided, through coordination with the mate.

Applicants should be highly self-motivated and organizationally focused. Experience cooking on boats is preferred but not necessary. Applicants must be clean, both in personal hygiene as well as in their work environments.  Individual must be able to live and work in close quarters with other members of their crew in a manner that is respectful to all persons.  Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and will be subject to random drug testing during the duration of their employment.
