Be a part of Niagara’s shipyard team and help keep an iconic ship sailing. The Flagship Niagara League is looking for Shipyard Crew to be part of the shipyard team to participate in maintenance of the U.S. Brig Niagara. This is an opportunity for crew to gain experience in ship based carpentry and maintenance of a wooden hull. Position starts as soon as possible.
Niagara is hauled out and is conducting maintenance at Great Lakes Ship Yard in Cleveland, Ohio. Niagara’s haul out is expected to last 5 weeks. A refit of the ships transom is being conducted with additional normal maintenance of the ships hull.
Shipyard team members assist in demolition of planks, reefing, caulking, steam bending planks, fastening planks and much more related projects in the maintenance of Niagara’s wood hull. Also be able to lift 50lbs and work outdoors on scaffolding and lifts.
Applicants should have experience in traditional sailing vessels with ability to learn new skills quickly. Must work well as part of a team and be willing to work out side using carpentry tools. Previous shipyard experience a plus but not required. Covid-19 vaccination is a requirement of employment and testing before arrival.Required certifications:

Pay above industry standard, including overtime pay. Housing, meals and transportation provided. Compensation for travel to and from shipyard provided.
