Passenger Vessel (Subchapter T)

Story

Aquidneck is a gaff rigged, coasting schooner designed and built specifically for the passenger charter trade.   She is an accurate reproduction of a late 1800’s coasting schooner that was built in Long Island specifically to take guests sailing in safety and comfort. She is named after Aquidneck Island on which Newport, Rhode Island is located. Aquidneck named after an Indian name meaning “Isle of peace.” Close sister ships include the schooners Freda B (ex Liberty), Spirit of Independence, and Inland Seas. Aquidneck offers daily scheduled day sails, private charters and sail training to guests of all ages from historic Bowen’s Wharf in Newport, RI.
